I have been reading the Strobist website the over the last couple weeks in an attempt to better my use of the flash.  Of course reading is can only get you so far.  So, I borrowed a hot shoe to home plug adapter from Geoff, built a crude snoot and took a couple self portraits.  I’ve posted them here so others can check them out.

As some of you know, I am traveling again this week. I left last Friday for Burum (actually staying in Groningen) in the Northern part of the Netherlands, where Stratos has a Land Earth Station.

The trip has been pretty routine, mostly work. Though I did have a chance to meet up with Lori on Sunday, which would be the highlight of any trip.

I don’t feel like writing too much, so instead I am just going to post a few pictures.

I sat down tonight to look at rewriting my old template to work with Wordpress. In the end though, I really didn’t have the attention span for it. So instead I decided to just add a new plugin. Since I started posting photos, I decided to add the stimuli.ca Lightbox2 plugin. From now on my posts will have a thumbnail of the photo and you will have to click it to see the full version.

To show off the new feature I am posting a photograph I took on Friday night. While Lori was out with the girls, I decided to go downtown and shoot St. John’s at night. The following was taken from the base of the South Side hills looking North.

As some of you know, I am currently taking a photography course at The Studio in an attempt to improve my skills. I am enjoying the course, and I like to believe that I am picking up the concepts and improving my photos. Of course one way of determining this is through the instructors critique, one of which is this week.

Unfortunately, since the last couple weeks have been quite busy, I have not taken many photos that I want to submit. I was hoping to take a bunch of landscapes this weekend, but the weather did not agree (overcast makes for poor light for landscapes). So, with Lori gone to Boston, I decided to take photos of my only company this weekend, my puppies.

Oddly enough, I actually got a couple good ones of April without her trying to lick my lens. So, in a bit of a change of direction for my site, I am going to post one of the photos as I start to share some of my favorites. I hope to do this somewhat regularly, but like anything on this site, I make no guarantees on frequency.

I don’t want to turn my site into a photo blog, so there will be other articles from time to time. Without further delay, here is the first photo.
